Accelerated College Handbook: Credit for Prior Learning

Introduction

Florida Community College at Jacksonville recognizes the academic value that today's working adult has learned through experiences outside the classroom. Through the Accelerated College program, students have various opportunities to earn college credit for verifiable, college-level learning.

Regardless of the number of traditional transfer credits and/or credits awarded for prior learning experiences, all students must complete Florida Community College's 25 percent residency requirement and the specific requirements of the particular degree.

This handbook provides a description of each of the options for awarding credit for prior learning and offers a guide and process to use for each option when assessing and processing a student's prior learning.
