Military Spouse Career Advancement Initiative
The Department of Defense (DOD) has changed the eligibility requirements for this program to include all military spouses in the participating states and installations - regardless of their military member's rank. Qualified spouses receive flexible education funding accounts that pay expenses related to post-secondary education and training.
The Military Spouse Career Advancement Initiative is a demonstration program jointly sponsored by the Department of Labor (DOL) and the DOD to assist active duty military spouses in preparing for portable careers by providing them with education and training in high-growth, high-demand occupations.
This fantastic opportunity for active duty military spouses enables eligible candidates to receive career advancement accounts in the amount of $3,000 for one year and is renewable for a second year for an additional $3,000. The money can be used to pay expenses related to post-secondary education and training to include tuition, books, equipment, and credentialing and licensing fees in nationally identified high-growth, portable career fields such as business administration, education, health care, hospitality, homeland security, human resources, information technology, construction trades and financial services.
