Cindy Alderson
Director, Military Education and Government Instructional Programs
Military Experience: 32 years (U.S. Navy)
Cindy initially served in the U.S. Navy as an Aviation Electronics Senior Chief and retired as an Avionics, Limited Duty Officer, Commander. During her enlisted career she completed Instructor Training (NEC 9502) and received designation as a Master Training Specialist. As a Naval Officer she was the Office in Charge of an Aviation Maintenance Training Detachment, served on the Naval Aviation Maintenance Training Headquarters Staff, and was one of the original Naval Personnel Development Command (NPDC) staff members, serving as the Training Integration Officer during the Navy’s Training Revolution. She graduated Summa Cum Laude from Embry Riddle Aeronautical University with a Bachelor’s degree in Professional Aeronautics.
Currently, Cindy oversees Florida Community College at Jacksonville's Naval Technical Training Contract at NAS Pensacola, Florida and is the Program manager for the Army Mobilizing Educational Technology to Support Combat Deployment contract.
Bryan Stewart

Military Experience: 24 years (U.S. Navy)
Bryan served in the U.S. Navy as an Operations Specialist Senior Chief and completed training for certification as a Master Training Specialist, Leadership Instruction Facilitator (NEC 9518) and Basic Navy Instructor (NEC 9502). He earned a bachelor’s degree from Southern Illinois University in Workforce Education Development with a specialization in Instructional Training and Development.
Currently, Bryan is the Program Manager working on Florida Community College at Jacksonville's Navy contracts at Great Lakes and Pensacola Training Commands.

Susanne is currently pursuing a master’s degree in Instructional Systems with a major in Open and Distance Learning from Florida State University’s College of Education. She earned her Bachelor in Science in Interdisciplinary Social Science degree in December 2006. Susanne also has an Associate in Arts degree from Florida Community College.
Susanne has been with Florida Community College since January 2003 and now serves as the Contracts/Grants Services Manager. She is responsible for organizing and leading the department's multiple concurrent contract and grant proposal writing teams. Also, Susanne serves as the primary point of contact for external Contracting Officers regarding contract administration, modifications, and proposal revisions.
Patrice E. Phillips

Having joined the College in July 2006, Patrice has over ten years experience in office management with three years in a legal platform. She is pursuing her Associates Degree at Florida Community College. Currently she is the senior administrative support for the Executive Director of MEI and Government Programs.

Fran spent 21 years in Virginia working for the Naval Surface Weapons Lab and in the real estate industry.
After moving to Florida in 1993 Fran worked in the loan and mortgage arena at a national banking institution. She retired in 2004 and after 2 years of retirement, came to work at FCCJ. She currently supports the Contract/Grant Services Department.

Babin
Dean, Military and Government Operations
Military Experience: 23 years (U.S. Navy)
Herb served in the U.S. Navy as an Aviation
Electronics Senior Chief and completed training for certification
in Leadership Instruction (NSC 9518) and Instructor Training (NEC
9502). He is also CPR and Wilderness First Aid qualified. He earned
a dual master's degree from Webster University in Management and
Human Resource Development.
Currently, Herb oversees all of the Military Education Institute’s Navy Homeport Training programs including
Force Protection/Anti-Terrorism, Culinary, Hazardous Materials,
First Responder and Barber training. He is responsible for MEI’s contract operations at both NTC Great Lakes and NATTC Pensacola including personnel management, contract modification, union negotiations and other operational support. He also oversees Open Campus'
Florida Security Institute and Institute of Occupational Safety and Health.
John "J.T." Revenaugh

Military Experience: 23 years (U.S. Navy)
J.T. was a naval aviator flying A4 and A7 aircraft
and a Jet Flight Instructor (Aircraft Carrier Landing and Instrument
Flight). He retired as a Commander after completing his last tour
as Executive Officer at the Naval Submarine Base in Kings Bay,
Georgia.
He earned a bachelor's degree in Microbiology
from Miami University and has 12 years of experience in higher
education with Florida Community College at Jacksonville military
programs. Currently, J.T. serves as Navy Homeport Training Safety
Officer.
Rick Higingbotham
Program Manager, Force Protection Program,
Military Education Institute, Florida Security Institute and Institute of Occupational Safety and Health
Military Experience: 30 years (25 U.S Navy - 5 U.S. Marines Corps)
Rick is a graduate of the Navy Senior Enlisted Academy and Emergency Response Team/Military Police Academy located at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas. He served five years in the Marine Corps as an infantryman and is a ground combat veteran of the Vietnam War. He also served in the Persian Gulf War in the Navy. As a Naval Air crewman in fixed and rotary winged aircraft, Rick was stationed in various locations around the world. His last two tours in the Navy were as Command Master Chief of Helicopter Anti-Submarine Squadron three and Naval Air Station Cecil Field, Florida.
Rick has a master's degree in Industrial Security from Webster University. He has a Bachelor of Science degree in Management from Southern Illinois University and has been with Florida Community College since 2001. Rick currently is the Program Manager for Military Education's Navy Force Protection Program and the Florida Security Institute.

During his 11 years of enlisted service in the
Quartermaster (navigation) rating, Ed served on five vessels,
completed one short staff assignment, advanced to Chief Petty
Officer and performed as an underway Deck Watch Officer, Leading
Petty Officer, Assistant Navigator, Division Officer and Rescue
Coordination Center Controller.
After receiving a commission as a Warrant Officer
in the Boatswain (seamanship) specialty, Ed sailed aboard four
additional vessels, finished three tours as Shipyard Docking Pilot,
concluded one short staff training assignment, progressed to senior
Chief Warrant Officer and officiated as an underway Deck Watch
Officer, Department Head, Docking Pilot, Command Duty Officer,
Training Officer and Educational Services Officer. He retired
with over 30 years of active service as the third senior Chief
Warrant Officer in the Coast Guard and maintains a current Merchant
Marine Officer's license.
Ed earned a Masters of Arts degree in Twentieth
Century U.S. Diplomatic and Political History from Salisbury University
and a Bachelor of Arts degree in History from University College.
He started at Florida Community College in October, 2003 as Project
Coordinator for the Florida Security Institute and the Institute
of Occupational Safety & Health.

Young

Military Experience: 24 years (U.S. Navy)
David served the US Navy as Security Chief,
Operations Division Officer, Command Duty Officer, Underway Officer
of the Deck, Command Educational Services Officer, Command Safety
Officer, Command Senior Enlisted Advisor, National Billet Detailer,
Master Training Specialist, Navy Course Supervisor and Student
Control Officer.
He earned an associate's degree in Computer
Engineering and Computer Science from the University of Michigan.
He started at Florida Community College in July, 2002 and currently
coordinates the operations and administration of Navy Homeport
Training programs.
Calvin
Leavell

Military Experience: 24 years (U.S. Navy)
Calvin served the US Navy as Command Senior
Chief, Administrative Department Head, Command Career Counselor,
Educational Services Officer and Command Security Assistant aboard
numerous vessels including a nuclear submarine, fleet oiler, battleship,
fleet tug, amphibious assault carrier and a guided missile cruiser.
Calvin came to Florida Community College in
April, 2003. He currently processes instructor payroll, coordinates
travel, and assists with the administration of Navy Homeport Training
programs.
Alicia Wiggins Jones

Alicia has been with the Florida Community
College at Jacksonville since October 2004 and brings 6 years of
office experience with her. She performs student control which includes
enrollment, registration and tuition application. She assists in
the process of instructor payroll and travel coordination. She also
assists with the administration of the Navy Homeport Training program
and the Florida Security Institute.
Alicia is currently pursuing her Associates Degree in Business Administration at Florida Community College.

Dillard Rogers
Associate Dean, Engineering Schools, Combat Systems Schools and
Combined Test Centers,
Military Contract Instructor Program, Great Lakes, IL
Military Experience: 23 yrs. (U.S. Navy)
Dillard served in the U.S. Navy in both Submarines and Surface Ships as an Electricians Mate and later as a Gas Turbine Systems Technician Master Chief. He served as Officer in Charge of a Mobile Training Team Group and was instrumental in establishing the Gas Turbine Hot Plant Training Facility at Great Lakes, IL. He taught and managed the U.S. Navy Instructor Training and Curriculum Design Programs. Dillard earned a bachelors Degree in Education from Southern Illinois University and has 16 Hrs toward a Masters Degree in Human Resource Development from Northeastern Illinois University.
Currently Dillard is the Assistant to the Contract Training Manager for the Contract Instructor Training Program, Great Lakes, IL overseeing the efforts of 109 staff instructors who teach Basic and Advanced Electronics, Propulsion Diesel Engine Maintenance, Automated Propulsion and Ship Control Systems, Ships Navigation Systems, Gun and Missile Systems and Television Studio Production and Television Studio Equipment maintenance.

Paul Chason
Associate Dean, Alternate Contract Training Manager, Pensacola, FL
Military Experience: 23 years (U.S. Navy)
Paul served over 23 years in the Navy, retiring in January 1999, as a Senior Chief Cryptologic Technician Maintenance (CTM). His assignments included: CTM Manpower Analyst at Naval Security Group Command for four years, Casualty Reporting (CASREP) Coordinator (two years) for 44 worldwide activities, Assistant Electronics Maintenance Officer, Maintenance Department Chief, Leading Petty Officer and Wideband Systems Maintenance Technician at various commands. Paul has 7 years experience in contracted military training as an instructor and Associate Dean.
Currently, Paul is the Associate Dean for the military training contract aboard Naval Aviation Technical Training Center (NATTC) Pensacola, Florida.

Amaya Davis
Interim Director of Program Development, Military Education and Government Programs
Military Experience: 7 years (U.S. Navy)
Amaya served in the Navy, as an aircraft structural mechanic, on F-14s, F/A-18s and P-3s. After honorably discharged, Amaya worked for Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University at NAS Rota, where she worked with Navy, Army and Air Force students. She then relocated in 2004 to Jacksonville and worked at the Southeast Regional office on the academic side of the house, from faculty training to accreditation standards. She started working at FCCJ December 1st.
Amaya obtained her BS from Embry-Riddle in 2003, and a Master Aeronautical Science in June 2006. She is currently pursuing a PhD in Business Administration through Northcentral University.
Marcia Gross
Program Coordinator, Military Education
and Government Programs
Marcia has over 20 years experience in academic
administration from Jacksonville University and has recently joined
the staff of MEI as Project Coordinator. She received a Bachelor
of Science degree in Liberal Studies
and Master of Arts in Teaching English at Jacksonville University. Marcias
duties at MEI have included coordinating the Industrial Management Technology
and Environmental Science degrees, as well as articulation agreements,
recruiting, and student services for the PDA Pilot Project for
the Coast Guard. She is currently managing military and corporate ACE transcript evaluations and serving as the FCCJ liaison with the American Council of Education.
Ray Wikstrom
Program Coordinator, Military Education and Government Programs
Military Experience: 31 years (U.S. Navy)
Ray is a retired naval aviator who flew Navy helicopters in both the Pacific and Atlantic fleets aboard frigates, destroyers, amphibious assault ships and aircraft carriers. He flew helicopter gunships in Vietnam and served aboard an amphibious assault ship during the first Gulf War.
Since June 2006, Ray has been assigned as the Project Coordinator for the Army’s Centralized Tuition Assistance Management (CTAM) program in which FCCJ is a participating school to support the Army’s effort to provide classroom and/or online distance learning opportunities for their soldiers and National Guard members stationed anywhere around the world.
In addition, he has been assigned a special project called Accelerate to Excellence, which is a sole source contract awarded to FCCJ by the Navy for a 3-year pilot program allowing students to sign up for a delayed entry into the Navy while attending a local community college within their recruiting district anywhere in the United States. These students will later attend “Boot Camp” and their 3rd semester with FCCJ professors in Pensacola, Florida prior to attending their “A” schools and returning to the fleet with an Associate Degree in Industrial Management Technology.
Ray also manages the Industrial Management Technology degree program for the Military Education Institute and all CD-based courses taken by military members at home, forward deployed or aboard Navy ships.
John Hill
Advisor II, Military Education and Government Programs
Military Experience: 32 years (Army National Guard)
John retired from the Florida Army National Guard as a Sergeant major after 32 years of service. He earned a Bachelors degree in History from the University of Florida before enlisting. He served as the Guidance Counselor for civilian education for the Florida Army National Guard from 1998 to 2006. He currently provides advising and produces SOC agreements for military students at the College.

Prior to coming to Florida Community College at Jacksonville, Karen spent 15 years in customer service and worked for Baptist and St. Vincent's healthcare systems. Karen started at the College in September 2002 as an assistant to the Project Coordinator who manages the Continuing Education and Special Projects department. Karen currently supports the MEI on base programs and the Environmental Science and Industrial Management Technology Programs.

Chalah has been with the College since November, 2002. Her primary function is to evaluate military and corporate transcripts for Military Education and Government Programs department as well as producing SOCNAV agreements for Navy students. Chalah earned her bachelor's degree in History at the University of North Florida. She came to Florida Community College at Jacksonville after working in the Duval County School system for five years.

Deborah has been with the College since March 2004. She has received her A.A. from Florida Community College and will graduate with a B.S. in Health Service Administration from the University of Central Florida in August 2007. She currently supports the Military Education Institute and evaluates military transcripts for transfer credit.

Nicola Pierce

Military Experience: 24 years (U.S. Navy)
Nikki retired from the US Navy as a Chief Warrant Officer with 24 years of service. After retiring she completed her Bachelor of Science degree in Workforce Education and Development from Southern Illinois University.
She joined Florida Community College as a VA Work Study at NAS Jacksonville in January 2007 and currently provides program support at the Military Education Institute on the Environmental Science Program.
Chris Johnson
Advisor II, NAS Jacksonville
Military Experience: 20 years (U.S. Army)
Chris served the US Army as Sergeant First Class, Southern Recruiting Command (USAREC), Orange Park Recruiting Station and Neptune Beach, Station Commander, numerous Overseas Deployment, as well as Conus and Oconus permanent duty stations.
Chris came to Florida Community College in February, 2005. He currently does student advising at the Naval Air Station Jacksonville Base. Chris will receive his A.A. degree from Florida Community College July 2007 and B.A from Capella University in Fall 2008.

Schneider

Mayport
Military Experience: 20 years (U.S. Coast Guard)
Jeff retired with over 20 years of service in
the US Coast Guard. His last assignment was as Training and Readiness
Officer for Naval Surface Group Two. Jeff has extensive law enforcement
experience with Law Enforcement Detachment One, the Coast Guard
Caribbean Squadron, and Coast Guard Squadron 42. He was also an
Educational Services Officer early in his career.
Jeff earned a master's degree in Public Administration
from the University of North Florida, a Diploma from the Naval
War College in National Security Affairs, and a bachelor's degree
in Mathematical Science. He started at Florida Community College
as the Project Coordinator for Coast Guard Programs for MEI in
March, 2004. He currently is the Enrollment Services Coordinator
managing the college credit programs at NS Mayport.

Jeff Kissinger
Director, Distance Learning
Jeff currently works as Director of Distance Learning in Florida Community College’s Virtual College. He is involved in course development and manages the Open Campus Faculty Development lab. Jeff has worked in many arenas of education including K-12, private industry, and higher education. Jeff’s passions are emergent instructional technologies, mobile learning, open courseware, and increasing access to quality learning experiences.
Garry Butler
Multimedia Author
Military service: 4 years (Army/Florida Army National Guard)
Garry served as a Combat Medic and was attached to an air ambulance unit as a Flight Medic.
Garry has worked as a freelance computer consultant specializing in Macintosh computers since 1992. He also worked as a Macintosh and PC Support Tech for AOL and Website Pros. His background is in Commercial Art, Desktop Publishing, Customer Care, Computer Repair and Media development. He worked for a year for FCCJ’s Technical Support Helpdesk before moving to a Multimedia Author position on the Mobilizing Educational Technology Project.
Garry is currently pursuing a Multimedia degree focusing on video production from FCCJ.
Vanessa Carswell
Multimedia Author
Vanessa started working at the college in May 2006 as a student assistant in the Emergent Technology Department at the Deerwood Center. She is currently working as a Multimedia Author on the Mobilizing Educational Technology Project.
Vanessa earned her Associate in Arts degree from Florida Community College and is currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Instructional Design from Southern Illinois University.
